What makes medical interviews different
The Multiple Mini Interview format is unlike almost any other interview type. You move through stations every eight minutes, each testing a different competency. There's no single narrative arc — each station is its own assessment.
What this means in practice: you need to be able to reset quickly, read a scenario under time pressure, think about your values and clinical reasoning out loud, and do it repeatedly without losing composure. That's a specific skill set.
Empathy stations
Communicating with distressed patients or relatives under observation
Ethical dilemmas
Working through clinical ethics scenarios with transparency and structure
Team and leadership
Demonstrating collaboration, conflict handling, and professional awareness
Knowledge and reasoning
Applying clinical and procedural knowledge under interview conditions
How the coaching works
We run real station simulations — eight minutes each, rotating formats, with specific feedback at the end of each one. Not generic advice. Specific notes on where your answer went off-track and what would have worked better.
The goal is to make the actual MMI feel familiar. Repetition under pressure removes a significant amount of the anxiety, which means your genuine clinical reasoning can show through.
Sessions are available in-person in Burnley or via video. Video sessions work well for MMI prep because the format is already inherently un-natural — you're already performing in a clinical context, not a conversation.
"The mock stations were harder than the real ones. I walked into the actual MMI feeling like I'd already done it four times. First-choice hospital."

Questions
Do you specifically know the Melbourne hospital MMI formats?
I'm familiar with the formats used by The Alfred, Royal Melbourne, St Vincent's, and most of the other major Victorian hospital networks for resident and advanced training positions. We tailor sessions to the specific hospital you're targeting.
How far in advance should I start preparing?
For MMI preparation, three to four weeks is ideal. The skills involved — ethical reasoning out loud, empathetic communication under observation, rapid reset between stations — take repetition to feel natural.
What if I've never done an MMI format before?
That's fine — most people haven't. We start by going through the format in detail, then run a few practice stations slowly before increasing to full speed.
Do you help with traditional panel interviews as well as MMI?
Yes. Some programs still use panel formats for advanced training positions. We can prepare for both formats in the same engagement.
I'm applying for specialist training, not just residency. Does that change the preparation?
Somewhat. Specialist training programs (surgical, psychiatric, GP) have specific competency frameworks and values. We prepare specifically for the program you're targeting, including what their assessors are looking for.
